The full titles of my classes are as follows:
Logic, Sets, and Functions - Which the professor, Professor Klivans, has renamed Mathematical Tools for Computer Science.
Sequence, Series, and Multi-variable Calculus - Which sounds as awesome as you think. =P
Foundations of Computer Science - Which Professor Mike Scott said is a bit misleading as to what we'll do in there. It's Java programming, and I'm excited for a challenge.
Physical Geology - With a really funny professor who gladly informed us that we could donate our bodies to be turned into synthetic diamonds.
Computational Intelligence in Game Design - The class I am most looking forward to. I will discuss this later though.
So, I'm back. Which is true in multiple senses.
A) I am back in Austin (although I've been back for 5 days now).
B) I am back to school.
C) I am back to blogging.
D) I am back to being generally happy.
E) I am back from my mental coma that I went into after yesterdays load of classes.
First things first, or more like third...
Anyway, I apologize for the depressing tone my last few posts took on. I want to clear up any misconception that I am not happy here. I realize that trying to be completely honest about how I feel about UT and being in college can come across as though I never have a good time here.
I do, it's just that my life here hasn't solidified like my life back in Amarillo.
For example, I just wrote a fake letter of recommendation for a friend to work for the CIA. It goes as follows:
"_____ is an adept private eye. Using meager tools (See Facebook), _____ is able to find secrets people didn't even know they were broadcasting. There's more, however. She has expansive knowledge about sites where she can enter the information she learned from Facebook and track down the person she is looking for. Revealing where they live, when they were born, and much more. If you were to allow _____ to work for you at the CIA there would be no person who could hide anything from you. Heck, she could even tell you when their birthday was from memory."
If you were in my Research Methods class last semester that made a ton of sense, and if you weren't you know a fraction of what we joked about in the hardest class known to man.
Let's back up a bit. Last Saturday, the fifteenth, I drove down here. I listened to my TomTom, which was voiced by Yoda, and ended up making the trip in about 8 hours, instead of 9. Yoda took me down a different route, and I got to see a ton of towns I didn't even know existed. It made me a strange sort of happy for some reason, and the only downside was the lack of Sonics. Also, the path it brought me down went through Cedar Park, which is where the brother lives, so I went and stayed at his apartment for the night. Jessica had made Enchiladas, and it was great!
Sunday and Monday were my two days to readjust to being here, and then Tuesday I started my whirlwind of classes. Here goes...
I started Tuesday at 8:00, when my first alarm went off, but decided I'd wait till A) my second and third alarms, and B) my roommate to finish getting ready and leave. So, I really got out of bed at 8:30 and started getting ready. I showed up to my 9:30 class 30 minutes early, which was Geology and in the same room as my Calc final.
After the class, which Sara showed up late to, Sara and I had 3 hours to kill because here CS and Calc discussions got cancelled along with my CS discussion. We then ate, and showed up to our class way too early, where we watched the first 6 parts of A Very Potter Sequel. =D
The class was my Logic class, and the professor seemed like a really awesome guy. It's going to be a really challenging course, but I'm really excited for it. After that class I got to talk to Enrique for a bit, but Mario and I had to run to our next class which was Computational Intelligence in Game Design.
That was a ton of fun. We got to listen to the head of the Stream talk about what has been done with it. Also, I found out that this guy, who I sorta met last semester, thought he reminded me a lot of Brison, and later found out he was friends with Brison (Fun Fact: When talking to each of them, they said "He's nifty." in reference to the other one) is in there with me, which further solidified the idea that he's Brison's doppleganger.
After that class, I rushed out and went to my Calculus discussion. Only a few people showed up, and all we did was do some quick review. I couldn't help but equate some of the stuff we learned in there to CS. By some of the stuff, I really only mean one thing, and it was nested for loops that I equated it to.
After that, I was pretty much brain dead.
... I think that's end of story.
Unless you want info on my two classes today, the first which made me a few minutes late to my second because it was all the way across the world. Pretty much next door to Mordor, and we all know that one does not simply walk into Mordor.
Also, Emily (S. (Smirl (Not Stumme))) was thoroughly stumped by this:
Yea, and I have nothing else. I should actually do something productive, like make a page for my Game Design class. Now that will take a few hours. =D
Adios, and love you guys!
